June is the gateway to summer and also to the upcoming tourist season. It is one of the best months to visit Prague for many reasons and one would wish it was always June. This month brings sunshine and more daylight hours. It is not too hot, but nicely warm, and it is not too crowded, but still pleasantly lively in Prague. The world of flowers explodes as well as outdoor events and festivities break out in the city. Prague still has a very local feeling so it is the perfect time to explore its cultural face before the tourist one takes over. If you wish to enhance your experience even deeper, then stay in our freshly renovated hotel Almanac X Alcron which carries lots of stories and has been well-known by locals for already 90 years.

Do you fancy a glass of wine? On the very first day of this month you can start sampling up to 400 wines from all over Central Europe at the Prague Drinks Wine Festival held at the New Town Hall. One of the most interesting events in June is the Prague Night of Churches on the 7th. This only one night of the year opens the doors of most churches where you can enjoy the special nighttime atmosphere often accompanied by guided tours, concerts, and theatre performances. If you like beer, do not miss the Festival of Microbreweries at the Royal Garden of Prague Castle Ground on the 7th and 8th. The Open Gardens Weekend on the 8th and 9th unlocks gates to several magnificent gardens and parks that are normally not accessible to the public. From the 14th until the 15th you can visit another festival of microbreweries which takes place on the Prague riverfront called Naplavka which you will comfortably reach on foot in a few minutes from our luxurious Almanac X Alcron.  A true delight for all lovers of ice cream will be the largest feast of its kind in Central Europe, the Ice Cream Festival at Holesovice on the 29th and 30th.

The famous Irish dance formation Lord of the Dance returns to Prague and will perform their great show at 02 Arena on the very first day of this month. Dutch violin virtuoso André Rieu plays at O2 Arena on the 7th and 8th. O2 Arena also hosts one of the most spectacular electronic music shows in Czech called Transmission Elysium Festival on the 15th. Metronome Prague aims to be the premier international music and arts event held in Prague and you can look forward to Czech and international stars performing at Prague Exhibition Grounds from the 20th until the 22nd.
