Spring is approaching in Barcelona, and it is the perfect time to discover the city’s charm. As the city awakens from winter, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a variety of exciting events.

March brings a mix of artistic and atheltic events in the city. On March 16, sports enthusiasts can take part in or spectate the Zurich Marathon of Barcelona, as well as the thrilling Volta Ciclista a Catalunya from March 24 to 30, one of the most prestigious cycling races in Spain. Art lovers can immerse themselves in the work of Sean Scully at La Pedrera, with an exhibition starting March 14. 

On april tennis lovers can experience the intensity of the Barcelona Open from 12th to 20th, where some of the best players in the world compete.

March, April & May

One of the most cherished traditions of the city, Sant Jordi’s Day on April 23, transforms Barcelona into a giant open-air book fair, as people exchange books and roses in a unique celebration of literature and love.

May brings more opportunities to enjoy Barcelona’s vibrant atmosphere. Music lovers await Primavera Sound, one of Europe’s most renowned music festivals, which takes place from late May into early June, bringing together top artists and thousands of attendees from all over the world.

A stroll through Park Güell or the Gothic Quarter offers a glimpse into Barcelona’s stunning architecture and rich history. Food lovers can delight in the gastronomic experiences found at La Boqueria or in the vibrant El Born district, while those looking to relax can enjoy the warm breeze and scenic views along Barceloneta Beach.

Summer plans in Barcelona

Summer in Barcelona is all about vibrant energy, outdoor festivals, and endless nights. The city offers the perfect mix of culture, music, and seaside relaxation. 

June marks the start of summer and invites you to rediscover the city outdoors. The month kicks off with the roar of engines at the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. From June 12th–14th, music lovers flock to Sónar Festival, Barcelona’s leading event for electronic music and digital arts, drawing international talent and curious audiences. As the month ends, on June 23rd locals celebrate Sant Joan, the midsummer festival marked by fireworks, bonfires, and all-night beach gatherings.

July brings a full calendar of culture and entertainment. Cruïlla Festival returns to Parc del Fòrum, offering an eclectic mix of music, art and comedy, while the Grec Festival unfolds across theaters and outdoor venues with live performances.
