WELCOME TO ALMANAC X ALCRON PRAGUE: Meet & Greet Artists
On Wednesday, May 17, a social evening celebrating modern Czech art was held at Prague's iconic Alcron Hotel, which underwent a complete renovation and opened its doors in March 2023 as Almanac X Alcron Prague. The guests had the unique opportunity to view the stylish spaces of the legend of the Czech hotel industry and meet personally the young Czech artists who participated in the decoration of the hotel. Moderator Veronika Ruppert guided the guests through the program in a sophisticated manner. Tina Haselbacher, from the Viennese Haselbacher family, which owns the Almanac Hotels chain, did not miss the interesting social event.
The original Hotel Alcron from the 1930s is a charming example of Art Deco style. Some of the original elements can still be found in the hotel today, their charm is perfectly underlined by the works of representatives of Czech modernism of the 21st century. Most of the works are directly owned by the hotel, but on this occasion, the hotel premises were also decorated with other interesting creations by young and talented artists. An interesting event at this location started the tradition of holding art exhibitions open to the public.
During the social evening Welcome to Almanac X Alcron Prague, with the subtitle Meet & Greet Artist, four artists presented their original pieces. The guests could get to know the work, for example, Lucie Jindrák Skřivánkové, who is the author of the mural at the entrance to the hotel and other pieces in the rooms. There were also pieces from Patrika Kriššáka, whose originals from the collection dedicated to corals decorate the legendary marble staircase and selected rooms.
The hotel's decoration is also characterized by creativity Alžběty Josefy, who focuses on objectivity in her work and works with several layers when painting. Her works can be found on the hotel staircase and can also be found in the rooms of the Castle View suites. The rich tradition of Czech glassmakers is followed by amazing art objects from studio Salanský. A comprehensive collection of 20 works for the Almanac X hotel was created by the brothers Jan and Ondřej Salanských using techniques combining traditional, densely blown glass with a distinctive author's approach. You can admire their amazing work especially in the Alcron restaurant and also in the hotel lobby.
The atmosphere full of creativity was stylishly underlined by the unforgettable culinary art created under the baton of Alcron restaurant and chef Eliška Hromková and her team. The prepared dishes and their arrangement perfectly matched the concept of the entire event and the plant-forward concept of the restaurant itself. She works with local ingredients and presents Central European cuisine in a modern and attractive guise. There were also special cocktails. During the evening, guests could taste three new signature drinks, the mixology of which is inspired by the history of the Alcron Hotel, where the past meets the present. DJ Zuzana Lhotská provided pleasant musical accompaniment during the event.
