About the Hotel
Built in 1925, the stylish Esplanade Zagreb is an architectural gem located in the ‘Lenuci Horseshoe’ - the glorious green boulevard surrounding Zagreb’s city center. Originally opened in 1925, the hotel has an extraordinary history, a fairytale exterior and was originally built for the passengers of the Orient Express. Always a landmark and social hub for the city’s cognoscenti, it still serves as a haven for A-List movie stars, politicians, singers and artists.
Today the Esplanade is considered an elite venue and cultural historic icon of Zagreb combining a rare art deco glamour with the needs of today’s modern traveler. Located within easy reach of the city’s key attractions and museums, explore the picturesque maze of streets lined with typical cafes and restaurants, shop designer stores, antiques and locally produced curios.
The hotel features 208 spacious rooms including 14 suites. Dining facilities include Zinfandel widely regarded as Croatia’s best restaurant, Le Bistro, the stylish Esplanade 1925 Lounge and Cocktail Bar. The Oleander Terrace is a popular dining spot with champagne bar and stunning views. Business facilities include twelve versatile venues for smaller groups to a grand gala event.
This landmark hotel will be refurbished in two phases and relaunched as Almanac Esplanade thereafter. Some hotel rooms will be transformed according to the Orient Express heritage while the other rooms remain in a more contemporary design. The property will comprise a Spa, two restaurants, a bar with a vast terrace as well as a sumptuous ballroom.
