Initially conceived to be a garden city for Barcelona’s wealthy families, its artistical, historical uniqueness and architectural was recognized in 1969 as a Monument of Cultural Interest; and in 1984, UNESCO declared it World Heritage site. 

Nowadays Park Güell is a city's green lung, rich in biodiversity and unique monuments where you can discover the genius of Antoni Gaudí.

The gardens were created in the 70's and pay tribute to the Majorcan poet Miquel Costa i Llobera. In it, we find 800 species of cacti and other succulents.
